The famous Cuckoo Clocks from Switzerland

I always thought that Cuckoo clocks (mechanical watches with a little bird indicating the time) were a typical German thing and also invented there. So I was surprised to learn that there is still one original manufacturer of hand-made mechanical Cuckoo Clocks in Switzerland: Lötscher from Brienz. The clocks are all made out of wood and a mechanical winding device propels the little cuckoo. I have now one sitting in my room as my tourist friend bought one and could not take it home because of limited luggage capacity. I would have never thought to have a Cuckoo Clock in my house, but here I go! And yes, I kind of like it!
