Picture: Hideous and huge and gone: Hotel Rossiya in Moscow (picture courtesy of: www.visitmoscow.com)
When I visited Moscow about 7 years ago I stayed in a hotel right beside the Red Square called Rossiya. The hotel could only be described as massive with its 2’722 rooms (some claim 2'876 rooms). The hotel was destroyed in 2006 in order to make room for a more up-to-date hotel (or an empty slot, as it is at the moment). Moscow currently offers only 5’000 hotel rooms compared with the 70’000 rooms in New York, as similar-size city by population. Therefore it comes as no surprise that the city boasts the most expensive hotel rooms in the world: the Ararat Pary Kyatt Hotel charges 840$ a night for its 216 rooms. Yieks!
Moscow, looks like a great place to visit. I had a list here of the most expensive Real Estate Properties. You might want to look at them. Thank you!
