Have you ever wondered what life is all about? Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a good leader? Have you ever wondered why you tend to hit obstacles again and again? And have you been looking for answers to those questions in simple English? I am sure you would answer every question with a yes and so would I. I am also positive that you found it as difficult as I did to find simple and understandable answers to those questions, despite reading dozens of self-help books and management books. But look no longer, one outstanding person accomplished this Herculean task. His name is Randy Pausch and he was a professor at the Carnegie Mellon University. His field of expertise was virtual reality and computer sciences and he was renowned for his brilliant and inspiring way of teaching. Randy died on the 25th of July this year due to pancreatic cancer but before he died, he had delivered a last lecture that can be watched on youtube (he also published a book). In this lecture he explains in a light-hearted and very intuitive way what life is all about and why it is important to hit “brick walls”. His summary is simple: “If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself. The dreams will come true.” Among other things this is what he means: enable other people to achieve their childhood dreams. Trust people and enable them. And brick-walls are there to test if you really want something.
