About 40 minutes south of the city of Basel, in Langenbruck, one finds a magically hidden sculpture park in a small green valley covered by forests. Almost 30 pieces of art by various artists are situated on the ground of a former monastery. The monastery by the name of Schoenthal was first mentioned in the year 1145 and consequently abandoned in 1529. Today the monastery with its surrounding lands belong to a private trust who also runs the sculpture park. It takes at least two hours to see all the sculptures. I particularly liked the wooden sculptures by David Nash and the massive metal sculpture by Nigel Hall.
