Picture: The perfect combination of sugar and egg white, Swiss Meringue!
The Swiss canton of Fribourg is famous for its milk-products like the Gruyère cheese. I suggest every visitor to this scenic and green canton should at least try the following locally made products: Firstly in the must-eat list is a moitié-moitié cheese Fondue with the locally made Vacherin cheese. Eat it with bread and or potatoes. Or ask for a cheese-platter with some locally made Gruyère cheese. I prefer the “vieux” or old cheese as it is the most savory one (it ripes for over 12 months). Last but not least on the list is the absolutely delicious and very filling Meringue, a fluffy dessert made from egg white and sugar, that is best eaten with a generous helping of double cream (add raspberries for extra flavor). Bon appètit!
